To lap or not to lap?

Is there anyway to see how much contact you are getting before lapping? If you are at around 80-90%, wouldn't it negate the need to lap? I hear some use Prussian Blue perhaps?

IMO, 80-90% would not require lapping.

That's what I would think but how can you tell without starting the lapping process?

Get the wheeler kit and it comes with alignment bars and instructions on how to tell

Good read.  Seems like that's part of the reason to buy quality rings (for the nicely machined inner part that contacts the scope).
