As many of you know, I recently had a very... shall we say... unpleasant experience with a certain individual/small company who refinishes firearms.  Or, at least this individual used to apply finishes to firearms; his most recent business practices and treatment toward customers have not been indicative of someone who will remain in business for very long. Anyway, after 6 months of waiting, lies, and inability to make contact, only to finally get my barreled action returned to me with no work done, I began searching for another company to refinish my action in Cerakote.

I have become a big fan of Cerakote as a firearms finish because of its appearance, the variety of colors, and its extreme maintenance-free durability.  I had done business with a company called "Fit 4 Duty" in the past, who finished another of my rifles in Cerakote.  Fit 4 Duty was the company who once applied the Cerakote finish to the Nosler Custom rifle, and they had done a superb job on my last refinish project.  So, when I was ready to get this rifle refinished, I naturally wanted Fit 4 Duty to do the work, but I couldn't find their website or contact information anymore, leading me to believe they were no longer in business.  Then, after the nightmare saga with the other refinishing business forced me to find someone else to refinish my rifle, I discovered that the Fit 4 Duty folks were indeed still in business, but they had just changed their company name to Ultra Coatings, Inc.

To make a long story short, I sent my barreled action to Ultra Coatings a month ago, and I received it back yesterday.  Once again, they did a superb job -- the finished rifle looks GREAT!  They contacted me before return shipping my rifle, they didn't expect payment until the work was complete, they were very friendly and helpful to me over the phone, and in addition, the finish work cost $60 less than the "other" company!  Unlike my experience with the other company, they were honest, did exactly what I asked, and met their turnaround time, as if they valued my business!  Good customer service -- WHAT A REFRESHING CONCEPT!!!

So, if you're interested in having a firearm finished in Cerakote, I highly recommend Ultra Coatings, Inc! Thunbs%20Up

I'm about to head out to my hunting camp to do some work and a little shooting, so I don't have time now, but I'll post pics Sunday evening.

Makes me wonder if you sent them a carpet sample if they could match it?  That would give extra meaning to the phrase hidout gun.  You could get your gun done to match your car's interior or your clothes.

Ol' blue the jeep does not have a nice trunk to keep stuff locked up in.  I do have a nice little case from Waller and son that about matches the interior.  I can keep a gun under the seat in that, but it is not very handy.  Now a pistol that matches the console...Skull%20Wink

Hey Ted, don't forget to include one of yourself in those pics - you have an eager audience out here!

Some of these guys were betting that you could be the forums George Clooney.

Pics will be good, but could you describe the finish texture? Which is it closer to a blue or satin finish or a heavier parkerized finish? Do you think having a blued piece coated in the stainless satin color would have a genuine stainless look?

I doubt it.
I don't care what kinda tendency's he might have. When you have the number of women (Hot women) pullen at your buttons as he does, to choose a man over them is cause for suicide.

Hey guys, I meant to take some pics last night, but I got home too late and went to bed.  I'll take some pics when I get home from work and post them this evening.

BTW -- no, I bear no resemblance to Clooney, either physically or philosophically... except that I too have a problem with large numbers of hot women throwing themselves at me.Wink

I had the action and scope mounts finished only because it has a carbon barrel.  The action is finished in SOCOM Blue Cerakote that resembles satin bluing and the bolt body is finished in Titanium Cerakote that looks like matte stainless steel and it matches the band of exposed barrel forward of the receiver before the carbon fiber sleeve starts.

Will describe in more detail this evening when I post the pics.
