Kimber can be very light. A friend of mine has one in 270W and it isn't that pleasant to shoot.

Kimber gets a decent amount of bad reviews. I personally think that most of them are from what you mentioned. Kimbers are about as lightweight as rifles get. Being accurate with an ultralight rifle isn’t all that easy. Combine that with a stout cartridge and it’s even harder. Most people are going to blame the rifle instead of themselves.

I don’t think the model of Kimber was mentioned, the Montana is a great rifle but it is very lightweight, depending on the caliber you choose they do make heavier model rifles. Funny, the older Tikka lightweight rifles with the crappy synthetic stocks seemed to never receive the bad press that Kimber sometimes does.
I’ve called Remington a couple of times in the past six months and was told they’re slowly bringing back their lineup in phases.

I had a Kimber back in 1980. A beautiful 22. I don't know if I want one of their 3 1/2 pound rifles....

3 1/2 pounds, now that’s a light weight hunting rifle, I don’t think even Rifle Inc. makes ‘em that light. 😂 |

The lightest Kimber I could find was 4 lbs 13 ounces. Two different models.

Ah, the Kimber roulette. Sometimes, you get a good one, sometimes you don't. I've had two... both were fine.

I like Kimber guns, but I have had a few people complain about QC issues. They do seem to have decent customer support if something goes wrong.

I have a M695 in 280Rem. It is superbly accurate, so I put it into a nice McMillan and view it as a more of long-ish distance hunting rile when I do not have to hike that much. It is easily 10lbs with a scope, sling and magazine.

Tikka is my favorite, but I have other brands also, I've spent a lot of time with TC Encore single shots and like the Bullberry Custom barrels for those, but it's a long wait to get one. I think the choice has to be purpose driven because nobody wants to climb mountains with a heavy rifle and if you hunt from a blind with a good rest, it wouldn't matter much what it weighed. The fit and finish of Kimbers I have seen is very nice, but I have no desire to own one unless it was .375 H&H which in all brands have vanished from the face of the Earth. Most gunsmiths can work on a Remmington, but they usually need some work to make them shoot. With no brass or primers to be had, one really has to think about what caliber to select because ammo is not showing up in every caliber on a regular basis. Also, I'm not impressed with reports I have heard on the 6.5 Creedmoor when it comes to hunting live animals.
There seem to be more 6.5C rifles on the shelf at the store than any other caliber but not much ammo to feed them. I'd rather have a .308 that I can feed.

I was thinking of getting Meghan a rifle and I thought the 6.5 Creedmoor was the new Cat's Pajamas...maybe not.
I would have to get her a Youth model with like a 12 1/2 inch LOP. I would like to get her something bigger than a 243. Any suggestions? |

10+ years ago Rachel started off a youth model Browning Micro-Midas X-bolt in .243, it came with paper work enabling her to upgrade to a full size stock later if she wanted. Nice looking rifle, light weight, wood stock, smooth action, feels good shouldering, tack driver. They still make ‘em. We never upgraded the stock but she has moved up to using either our 7mm.08 (Winkle) or 6.5 Creed. Rachel’s 5’2”, around 100#’s.
They make a Micro-Midas Winkle

Wes, I don’t know who is feeding you the Bull💩💩💩 on the Creedmoor not doing the job is ridiculous! If the .243 has worked for all of these why wouldn’t the Creedmoor be that much better? My wife and I have killed 10 Whitetails over the last 7 years with the lowly Creedmoor with absolutely no problems. Whoever made that claim ain’t too smart.
