OK I'm new to this way of getting info so here it goes

I have a new Bushmaster Varmiter 223, I put a Burris fullfield II 3x9x40 on the gun and I like the results so far but I've only shot out to 200 yards with it, I would like to get out to 500+yards. I was thinking about buying a new Super Sniper 10x42, Is it worth spending the money?

I would shoot what you have out to 500 yds first.  There's no reason that the burris won't work for you.  the advantage of the SS is that you will be able to use the elevation and windage knobs to "dope" your scope for wind and holdover and use the mildots for range estimation and holdover.  This takes a bit of practice to do right and there's nothing wrong for most applications with a traditional style hunting scope (as long as its a quality piece).   I had my SS 10x42 on my AR varmint and migrated it to a heavy barrel .308.  The AR got a 3-12x instead....I didn't shoot it out to long distance much and I didn't find myself using the knobs plus I think the variable will be better suited for varmint hunting as for most hunting I like to scan on 3x and then zoom in if necessary for shot placement.  I also don't like shooting .223 at long distances....the wind pushes it around more than a .308.  That's the pros and cons in my book
