No, I never got to test one.

I looked at one at SHOT, but never had a chance to test one on the gun.

I know someone who has a Kaps, I have never seen it, but he also has the claim "as good as S&B, but much less expensive"...  He lives in an area I seldom get to, never gets to where I live...
Maybe I could get him to let me borrow it.  I'm not sure what the mag range is... I really wasn't paying attention.  When he made the claim, I thought "oh yea, SURE... maybe it's made by Leapers".  Now I see I should have paid attention...

In the Finnish low light test; (google Finnish low light scope),the Karl Kaps scope wasnt,t up to par with the Schmidt as well as some of the other well known European scopes. But in the configuration you are looking at it may not pose a problem. And yes they are a handful of folks out there that sell Kaps.

I have quite a few experience with Kaps scopes and if I compare them with other EU scopes are well worth the money. In comparison to Meopta they are better in almost any regard.

In comparison to Docter things get complicated. Docter Classic scopes are better than Kaps Classic scopes. On the other hand I like Kaps TLB series more than Docter Unipoint. Normally Kahles, S&B Klassik and Zeiss Klassik series are better but they also cost 30% more.

Karl Kaps is a little bit like a Cinderella of the German brands.
The company is still owned and run by the Kaps family which has a great reputation of passion for the optics.
Karl Kaps Classic uses exactly the same lenses as Schmit & Bender Classic and is mechanically very good. I would dare say that it has the same robustness that is common to the German and Austrian brands. The attractive thing about them is the price as they are much cheaper than their competitors.
They have some pretty impressive and priceworthy tactical scopes as well as several hunting models: Classic, Classic illuminated and TLB. The TLB are day/night illuminated and are very similar to the top brands. Here, the prices differ with several hundreds of euros between Karl Kaps and brands like S&B, Zeiss, Swarovski and even Kahles.
I have the priviledge to have looked on every model they make and none was disappointing.

I can also emphasize the fact that Karl Kaps is by far better than Meopta.

There is no question about Kaps being better than Meopta.

The other thing worth mentioning is that their TLB line has the dot technology similar to S&B FlashDot and Zeiss Varipoint. The Dot is visible only when turn on and when turned off only reticle is visible. On other scopes in this price range the dot stays as a black dot in the reticle.

I am not able to find the edit button for the post, so I am making a new one.

A word about their Tactical line. At the moment Kaps Tactical line are basically hunting scopes (no side focus or AO parallax adjustment) with BDC turrets for 7.62 Nato. Quality is OK for the price (cca 1200€) but you get a similar IOR with better Tactical setup for this money.

They are developing 5-25x56 Tactical scope but we will have to wait for it.
