I am going to buy a Kahles 3x9 KX for deer hunting. Can you guys tell me which reticle you would recommend (plex or #4a)? I have always shot a plex reticle and have no experience with the #4 reticle. I hunt in dense cover, some thinner woodlands, and occaisonally in corn or bean fields.

Funny you bring this up.  I am debating that exact same thing right now.  I plan on getting the 3-9x42 CL.  I have always used the equivalent of a plex reticle.  Two hunting friends of mine, one whom recommended Kahles to me to start with, own the 4a (or similar from another manufacturer) and absolutely love it.  At this point, I think I'm going to give the 4a a try.  We'll see what happens when I get the checkbook out though!

Basically, the 4a gives you all the low light visibility of a plex -- in some cases more so, depending on how bold the posts are on the particular plex you're comparing it to -- with less target obstruction on the top portion of the reticle.  I see only advantages and no disadvantages I can think of for the 4a as a standard hunting reticle.

I like the 4a because I don't have that post in the middle of everything.  It lets me see what is going on better.  I can tell what is behind the target better.

I drove down to SWFA earlier this week.  I looked at several scopes, and picked the same scope you are asking about, with the 4a reticle.  I really liked the physical package, the clear glass, but the 4a reticle is what really got my attention.  Give it a try.  I think you'll like it.
