I have been looking at the Kahles CL on the sample list.  I was thinking a 4-12X52 would be about right, since I'm attempting to ramp up the power over my current 9X unit.  Alas, they're gone.

My question is, how does the glass of the Kahles American Hunter model compare to the CL?   And, how does say Zeiss glass compare to Kahles glass? I imagined to make it apples and apples, the models should be American Hunter Vs Conquest, but that's an estimate.   The shopping door is wide open.

the ah is almost identical to the new kx, so its not as good as the cl, i suppose you could compare the ah to the conqeust

The optics in the AH are the same as the current KX series.  The only difference between the discontinued AH series and KX is they have a couple different reticle options, slight cosmetic differences, and both lines had/has a model configuration the other one doesn't.  The CL is slightly better than the AH & KX optically (better resolution), but not by much.  I've compared the two and they are very close.

I own scopes from Kahles AH, CL, and C series and Zeiss Conquest and Victory Diavari VM/V, so I've compared them head to head.  Kahles is optically better than Zeiss Conquest, in my opinion by a noticeable degree, but not quite as good as Zeiss Victory series.  The Conquest is very good, but not quite in the same class as the Kahles scopes.  All are superb, though.

jackG,

Have you tried calling them? I just looked on the Sample List and there were a total of 16 listings for the Kahles 4-12 x 52 Helia CL.  Unless they don't update the Sample List very often, it seems like something should be available. The listing was for 3 regular and 13 Multizero models.

BTW, I own this scope in the Multizero version and really like it! Great glass. Highly recommend one. Good luck finding one.

Pell, you're right.   The site was down for a little while, and when  I first went back in, the Kahles list was substantially shorter.  After I posted above, I went back in and was delighted to find, everything was back.

The 4-12X52 is back in the fast lane.

My opinion mirrors these comments.  I've owned or own the exact scopes for comparison & my eyes told me the same thing.
