I've read that Gen1 and Gen2 had some optical issues.
How do you compare the optical clarity of this scope against other top tier?
Is it as sharp as a S&B 5-25?

The gen1s and gen2s had varying degrees of optical difficulties.  I hear good things about the gen3, but ain't drinking the cooliad.  I invested too much into scopes that were subpar.

I still have my gen2, it is a huge improvement over the gen1, but far from perfect.

If nothing else, I can say this: my gen2 K624i really makes me appreciate my gen2 Vortex 3-18!

I think you might have missed the point of my posts: the gen2 is much better than the gen1 and nowhere near as good as it should be at that price.

Would buy about 10 other scopes before I bought another of these.

Gen 3 is better than Gen 2.  RC made a good point though that Kahles really made its own life difficult by releasing the subpar Gen 1 and occasionally spotty Gen 2 into the market.

No matter how good the Gen 3 is, many people will not want to take a chance.
