I need some suggestions or directions get mounting my scope for more elevation adjustments, something like 30 to 40 MOAs. I'm long winded so please bear with me. I believe in getting and giving the whole story.
OK. I just bought a Kahles CL 4-12X52 in a very good deal. I bought the scope for its glass; I want a scope that has the best glass I can afford finally. I have Warne extra high QD steel rings in a weaver rail mounted Savage Mako 22LR. I'm sure everything will be fine except one thing, elevation adjustments. The specification says 3.6ft at 100 yards. That's about 43 inches at 100 yards which is 43 MOA, right? Ideally I have about 21 MOAs from mechanical zero. That isn't much especially, I may lose some MOAs when I mount the scope. The problem is that I have this perversion: I like to shoot my 22LR target rifle at 300 to 400 yards. Obivously the Kahles CL isn't going to have the elevation I need. At 300 yards I need about 40 MOA dope; at 400 yards, 61 MOA. I heard that people can modify their rings and mount to get more elevation adjustment. I haven't a clue at how to do that. I would be greatful if you guys and give me some suggestions, directions or, point me to places where I can get more information. I like to keep the rings in Weaver base form because all my rifles have and will have that mount. And I like to use this Kahles on all my rifles because I have enough cash for only one good scope. A side note, I am using a Bushnell Elite 3200 10X42 fixed scope with Mil-dot reticule. I zero in at the very first dot at the top of the reticule and use the last dot to shoot out to 256 yards. Then I crank the noob for 400+ yards hitting steel targets that way. This setup works pretty well but my eyes screams for better glass and this Kahles will be my best scope for a long while. Again I appreciate any help and suggestions. Thanks. |

Thanks, Urimaginaryfrnd. I think I like the Burris insert kit idea. Well, all the options look good to me.
