I am inheriting my Great Uncle's old Browning Bar and wondering if the above scope would be a good fit.  I hunt in the woods with my furthest shooting being 80 yards and want the low magnification for aquiring deer during drives.  If it would fit, what rings would you recommend.  (selling my rig to use this sentimental rifle)

That is fine rifle, I had an older one in 30.06. If this gun has the original iron sights I would consider Talley QD's. The are classy looking and would compliment the great looks of a BAR. They are also very well made being machined from tool steel. Talley holds pretty good tolerances IMO.

That scope would absolutely be a superb match for the BAR, and I like Doug's suggestion of the Talley QD mounts as well.

I guess I missed the title of the thread, DUH. Like Ted said, that scope would be excellent for that gun. I have two in 1.1-4x24 and the optics are superb. My brother has the 1.5-6x42 on his M700 and it is all he needs for big game hunting at any reasonable range. He likes it better than his 3-9 Conquest.

kahles C is at the top w/ zeiss victory, and swaro.
 
great scope - talley's are good, or warne as well.

I also like the idea of low powered variable on an auto centerfire, the whole idea of using an auto is for quik follow up shots and this is performed best by a low powered scope.  Excellent choice in the Kahles.

This is a fabulous choice.  You have your pick of a 4A or a 7A reticle.  Get the 4A!  Better for acquistion of moving game on those deer drives.
