Is it SWFA Outdoors that takes scope in trade? I'm getting to the age where I would appreciate a little more than 20X max on 1" targets @ 100 yards. I have a like new Nikon Monarch UCC 6.5 X 20 fine cross hair w/ 1/8" target dot. It's fine on 2" targets but the old eyes get tired holding for groups on 1" @ 20X I can see and aim at .223 holes at this distance but it does make the eyes tear after some time behind the scope.
How would you compare the brightness and clarity between the Monarch and the Viper?
I have been reading so many good things about the Vortex scopes that I want to find a local distributor so I can examine them and possibly trade in the Nikon somewhere. What percentage of MSRP do you think is offered on trade ins? If the scope is like new with no marks etc would I be taking a beating or should I just try to post and sell it outright?

                                   Thanks for any suggestions....

  Pete welcome to another forum.
Yes SWFA is the place that takes trade ins and to go along with that the CS is second to none. Take a look at the sample list to see if that model is listed and then subtract what you think may be their profit margin and you may come close to what you might get rhen decide if you can do better selling out right.

welcome. and from what understand is that the newer monarch is much better than the ucc version .   i have a 4-16 monarch and just received the 6.5-20 vortex viper today so far they are just as clear as another.. bummer is that i bought the monarch 2 months ago because i wasnt sure about vortex..  well i could have saved some cash and would probally have the 3.5-10 or 4-12 viper in the safe now as well and been just as happy and again with extra cash..
