So I have been in the market for a new scope for my f-class rifle that I primarily shoot at 1,000 yards. I have had a SS 20x on it for a while but wanted more power and a little brighter view. The SS has been flawless though. So black Friday sale comes along (thanks SWFA) and I decided to buy the Sightron 10-50x65 with the MOA2 ret. Unpacking it and first impressions are very good. Build quality and overall robustness is impressive. The clicks and the turrets I like alot. Overall I was very happy. Going in to this I knew the scope was limited in elevation at 50 moa. I normally sight my scopes in at near the bottom of the elevation scale by using shims and canted rails. I immediately noticed  this scope was going to have issues. I bore sighted it at about 100 yards. If I get pretty close to the bottom of the turret I notice that is becomes difficult to look through the scope and its no longer round same happens at the top of the scale. Its worse at 10 power and better at 50 power. I'm shooting a .284 with Berger 180's so I'm sure I should get to 1,000 yards but just barely. It seems I only have about 30 minutes up that is clear without distortion. I was hoping to get more like 40-45 but that's not going to happen. I could bottom out the SS 20x and never noticed any distortion or issues at all. Is this normal for the Sightron? I am still happy with the scope for what I need it for but will be disappointed If I get to shoot at longer ranges. I also noticed that the windage has issues when at the upper or bottom of the scale which is to be expected but much more so with this scope than any other I have used. I very seldom shoot farther than 1,000 yards with this rifle so I am not sure why this bothers me. I wish I could have this scope with 100 moa adjustment.

Cant' tell from the picture but do you have a canted base on there?  do you have to or do you use a 100yds zero often?  I've seen some F class guns that are bottomed out and zeroed around 300 and they just know they are going to be 2" high or so at 100

I have a 30moa base and shims to fine tune it to the bottom.
I think your right, don't know why it needs to be zero at 100 other than the occasional hunt but that's rare. I could zero it at 600 cause we shoot that all the time too.

I would look to get a base with more cant just to get so that your sweet spot (center adjustment) is closer to your what your at most of the time. I am not to big on shims but I know they can and do work,  I'm just a fan of less parts the better.

I had the SIII 6-24x50 LRMOA and I hated it, sold it as fast as I bought it.
