Leica rangefinder, IOR tactical scope, and Swaro American.  2 of the 3 were good enough to stick - the IOR had some issues and another guy wanted it more than me.

Most of the advice here is good.  Some is pure crap, but let us focus on the glass not being half empty or half full but just too damn big.

I have purchased 3 scopes from SWFA. My choices were made because of the reviews that I have read on here and some personal expierence from some of the members with certain scopes. You get what you pay for, it makes me laugh when people buy the cheapest thing made and expect it to work like the most expensive one out their and then they have the nerve to complain.......pet peeve.

Cheaptrick I have made a purchase because of your personal recommendation and it was right on. I don't do opinions only actual expierence with products that I have used........

Where do we start????

Great advice, just have to sift through as needed.

Moepta Meostar SWFA
Just received yesterday Sightron 4-16X42 Silver Plex and Kahles 3.5-10X50 AH Thank you SWFA

Scopes I had prior to following OT regularly:

Bushnell 4200 4-16X40 Still have   SWFA
Bushnell 4200 3-9X40 Still have     SWFA
(2) Simmons (Pre-Meade) Aetecs  Still have
Leupold 3.5-10X40 VXIII    Sold
(2) Bushnell Banner Dawn to Dusk 3-9X50 Still have with no real complaints and have served me well for 6+ years
1 is on a Savage 210 Slug Gun that kicks like a mule  2 is on TC Omega Laminated Stainless Thumb Hole and have no reason to remove them. Both purchased from SWFA with great help from customer service and tech support.

Still envy the Swaro Z6

All in all, the info here is very informative and many have great insight and opinions. There is information here that I don't believe to be readily available anywhere else. There are a few on here that I consider there word the gospel of scopes in general.

Thanks to all

Rob

I have purchased 2 scopes from SWFA as a result of my reading this forum. Over the years and before reading this forum I had purchased scopes from Swift, Bushnell, Leupold, and Kahles. I was in the market for another scope and after reading a lot of this forum I purchased 2 Nikon Monarchs earlier this year at the great price of $218.00. One is mounted on a 300 win mag the other on a 30-06. I am happy with my scopes and this forum was instrumental in my choice. Thank you all for your vast knowledge, and experience.

I'd say the forum has made me examine more closely my purchase choices and is a valuable aid in selection and particularly useful in narrowing the field of choices.

Hi my name is Bricat, for years I struggled with the hold that Leupold optics had on my life. It seemed that there was no other way out. When I woke up in the morning, I craved the golden ring, when I came home from work the first thing I would do is go look at leupold catalogs for hours and hours. I would go to bed at night thinking about that ever enticing gold ring around my scope. I had no idea that I could ever function without my Leupold. That is, until I was introduced to a great bunch of guys here at OPTICS TALK. Guys like Koshkin, Cheaptrick, Chris Farris and others who were there when I needed them most. These kind souls spoke to me about the joy and freedom that comes with fine European optics. These fine men never gave up on me, they encouraged me on a daily basis until one day I actually did it-I looked through my first Euro-optic. It was at that point that my life was changed forever. I had "seen the light" like I never have seen the light before. It was crisp, clear, and oh what resolution there was! I did a very brave thing that day. I reached deep within my soul(and my wallet) and purchased-a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40. My life would never be the same again. Thanks to the advice given on this forum, I am a new man! Thank you my brothers, Bricat

An IOR 4-14X50 Tactical / MP8.  I'd heard of IOR before coming to this site, but very few first hand accounts from users.  The positive reviews of IOR here made buying this scope an easier decision, as otherwise, I wouldn't have spent that kind of $ on a product I was unfamiliar with.  Glad I did, because it serves my purposes very well.

Total  Newbie to the forum, but wanted to reply here, Was in the market for a new scope and was surfing and reading what people were saying about scopes here and elsewere, I bought a Nikon Monark 3x9x40 and must say I was blown away at how clear it is. Looking throw them in the store does not compare to real hunting. Sure beats the old Banner that is now on my sons rifle. When HE can afford to upgrade I will show him this site. Did not buy from here  but should have would have saved a dollar here. will be getting binnos. soon mine are 20 yrs. old

Due to information from many people on this site I have come a long way in knowledge on optics.  I came here with a question about two scopes that I thought were going to be a huge step up from the nikon buckmaster I had.  The scopes were a Nikon monarch gold and a luepy vxIII.  I first changed to the Zeiss conquest, continued to post threads and read old posts about different scopes.  Then I changed to wanting an IOR, kept milling it over.  Finally someone I can't remember who recommended Kahles...it was love at first sight.   I have bought a Kahles Cl 4-12X52 MZ and a Kahles C 3-12X56 and couldn't be more pleased.  Without this site I would be hunting with a far lesser scope, thinking that it was a world-class scope.

I bought a Sightron scope, a Kahles KX scope, and some Leica Binoculars.  I have also learned a lot, and gave a growing wish list.

I've just purchased a Bushnell 4200 3-9x40 for my dad based solely on the recommendations from this site.  Being a Canuck, I had no chance to purchase from SWFA, but sent a thank you note to them for supporting this valuable forum.

My next purchase will also be researched here.

Bought a Burris FFII 3-9 and a Burris Black Diamond 4-16x50 (both from SWFA) based on advice here.  When I am ready to put a new scope on my 17 hmr and any other guns I buy, I will be here asking the pros for advice.

Elite 4200 for my grandsons and a Zeiss Diavari for myself. I'll soon get an Omega for the muzzleloader I intend to buy. It is great to have a forum of knowledgable optics experts that you can get fact based information from rather than a bunch of yahoos on other sites that have the mentality that "My grandpa had nuttin but ________ so that is the best."

Bought a Docter 1.5-6x42 scope and a Pentax DCF SP 10x43 bino thanks to the opinions I received in the forum. Couldn´t buy from SWFA 'cause I don't live in the USA (but tried)

Appreciate the advices.

Nah....I never needed any advise as I knew it all BEFORE I got here...

Not really. Pretty good site they have here.

If I ruled The OT world however, I would recommend having a dedicated "Leupold Lovers" forum, but that's me......

(A a ".270 or nuttin" forum would be real nice too.)

I'm new here as of last spring, when I acquired from SWFA, based upon favorable reviews, a new IOR  2.5-10 tactical with the illuminated MP-8 FFP reticle. And Badger rings.

I then promptly lost it all in a tragic boating accident...
