Everytime I see period footage or a documentary It amazes me that any soldier survived that invasion.
Sadly it also shows how careless some commanders can be with mens lives.
The first time I charged a machinegun in training I thought of D-Day( total insanity). The only way you can do it is faith and fury. Thank God I didn't have to face any machineguns in Iraq but I did have some occassions where it felt the same. Those events did show me how many of those soilders must have felt. You push you helmet back grab up your gear and go fo it. Only by God's divine grace did many of us make it home, wether on D-Day or any battle since. The courage of those men are a driving force inside of me. For them and those since them I purpose to live with Honor, integrity and courage.
I look forward to listening to their stories once we've gone home. Warriors great and small giving all for God and country.
No greater thing can a man do than this, But that he would lay down his life for another.
