For years my buddy has had a model 70 fwt. in 6.5x55 that I have secretly coveted. Well no more. I swapped into one yesterday at the local gun show. For now it's wearing my old weaver K4 and it is a pretty neat rig. Looking forward to getting it out to the range.

I sold my Encore I barreled in a 6.5x55. I didn't like the feel of the gun, but the caliber was awesome !!

I will build a bolt action in one before it's all said and done ! Congrats ! Excellent

Not a big picture posting guy besides I need to get some mounts that I like for it before I'll call it done. I think Pyro is rubbing off on me though as I was playing around last nite and mounted up my matte finish Pentax Pioneer and it didn't look too bad. I would have never put a matte scope on a high polish rifle before, What is happening to me!!! The Bells , The Bells!!!!

Hey, welcome to the club.  I am a big fan of the old swede.  It is my deer caliber or choice.  Get some Lapua or Norma brass and get reloading.

Actually my buddy ended up with the market cornered on ammo and brass so he has graciously offered to get me started with a couple of boxes and some brass and bullets. I ordered me some dies and expect to be up and running right away. Now if I can just get the snow to let up. I've spent several evenings looking at various scope setups for this of the scopes I have avaliable and believe I'm going to go with my trusty old 4x scopechief in some zee rings. I like this old scope and it has proven reliable and is nice and bright and it keeps the rifle "featherweight" while providing plenty of power for my deer hunting needs.

I have a Husquevarna M38 military in 6.5 Swede.  What an awesome shooting gun!  As a matter of fact, I decided to truly embrace 6.5 and buitl a 6.5 x 55 Swede AI for a hunting rig with a Shilen barrel and Mauser action.  I then went completely nuts and built a 6.5-06 AI on a Win 70 action with a Krieger.  It is real tough to beat that 6.5!!
