Well! I learn something new all the time.........For years, I have been using JB Bore compound in my rifles with much satisfaction. Contrary to some belief that this may be too abrasive for rifle barrels, I have found over the years the opposite to be true!...............Through a magazine advertisement, I happened to see the web address for "brownells." I see that they also have a product called "JB Bore Bright!" I never knew that existed. I ordered some on line and it was delivered yesterday; took 2 days.........I cleaned my rifle this morning as though I just came from the range. After using the compound as I always do, I then used the JB Bore bright as instructed.......When done, I used my bore light to take a peek. WOW!    In my 35+ years of shooting and cleaning, I have never seen my barrel shine like this! An absolute mirror shine! I also placed the bore light inside the muzzle and could see that mirror reflection from the rifling and bore!.............. Beautiful!.................www.brownells.com  &nbs p;

I've used Remington's Bore cleaner which is somewhat of an abrasive as well, with good results.

I have tried to limit how often I use it though. I generally only use it after 200-250 rounds or so in my .308's barrel. I've had the same bottle of Remington Bore cleaner for 3 years at least.

I'm a big fan of the Barnes CR-10 cleaner for getting the copper out too. I use it every time I clean my barrel.

On the Brownells web site, they give quite an interesting explanation on both the JB compound and the JB bore bright! According to them, no rifling as ever been damaged with the JB compound regardless of frequency usage. Over many years, I`ve always used the compound after each shooting session and never had a loss in accuracy or any bore damage. After using the JB Bore Bright, I couldn`t believe it at first as to how well it shined the bore up, even more so than just using the compound by itself!
