Hello,
My uncle recently gave me this J. Unertl Scope with a serial number 54588. After a bit of research on the internet, turns out these scopes were used during WW2 and Vietnam war, I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of this particular brand.

I only know that Unertl scopes were made in Pittsburgh by John Unertl.  I believe John Unertl immigrated to America from Germany sometime in the 1930s ( probably to get away from the Nazis ), and that he had been in the optics industry.  He came to America and started up his own business.

Those scopes are worth some money.

Oh, I don't know.  I don't know how old it is....probably Fifties or Sixties.....

I don't know how you would find out about that.

For more information on the Unertl, right now there are several on the famous

auction site, and a search on 24 Hr Campfire will give you plenty to read.

You've got a special scope there.
