I've got an old J. Unertl 4X scope that says "Hawk" by the top turret. Know anything about it, like maybe the time period it was manufactured or where? Thanks.

The Unertl Hawk was produced from 1950 to 1980. After 1980 Unertl went out of the sporting scopes business and only produced scopes for the military contracts. They are good scopes for the period. They were made in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

I had a 10X43 Vulture (big brother to the smaller "Hawks"). No service available from Unertl in PA in the mid 80's so when I had adjustment problems a Korean clock repair guy managed to fix it and it worked fine for many years. According to my records I bought mine in 1968 for $68.00 new.
