Sgt D, or any one.  I just bought a Rock Island Compact Tactical.  Haven't had it delivered yet, but fired friends, and was wanting to know if anyone knew of a good IWB Leather Holster for it.  I don't wear a belt, so the clip is fine.  But needing some info if anyone has an opinion.   Not affraid of a price, just want something comfortable.

Thanks for the help

There are several good IWB holsters, but you will want a belt with them.  The clips often do not catch.  The more stressfull the situation, the more likely the clip will not catch, and you wind up pointing leather.  Note: You do not want any dye execept maybe at the top. You also want rough side out!!!!

Pyro 6999 and Silver, thanks for the feedback.  Sounds as if I need to revisit a belt.   I like the fist-inc look

The best belt you can get (and you definelty need a belt if you are going to carry a gun) that works great for casual wear or as tactical wear is a Liger gun belt.  They are simply fantastic.  Just google Liger gun belts and there are a ton of stores that sell them.  I have been wearing one every day for two years and it has not even begun to reshape in the back like leather belts always to do me.  No fraying or cracking of any kind and it is extemely stong and has no flex in it.  I can where a gun on each side and two mags on each side all day long and it does not not make my hips sore from sagging top side down at all.  They are just great belts.

As far as holster, get leather or kydex.  Kydex is longer lasting and will not loose shape, but is not quite as comfortable for an IWB.  Definetly you need clips that attach firmly to your belt, loops work best.  Like Silver said rough side out if you get leather.  I had a Wilson Combat IWB holster back when I used to carry a 1911 and it was a great holster.  http://wilsoncombat.com/l_summer_companion.asp Also get one that allows you to re-holster with one had so you don't have to have your other hand down in front of your muzzle while you are trying to holster your weapon.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

If you have to have a clip, the Alessi Talon clip is the best I have ever used. I have several of his Talon + models and they are excellent for clip type holsters. His leather work is second to none.
I like leather for IWB. It is more comfortable than Kydex for me, also.
You need a good belt for carry, regardless. There are a bunch of fine makers. If you want it fast The Beltman or Rafter have good turn around.

Pred6D 1CD, Sorry for responding so late. Been in the hospital after being caught in a gang incident. But these guy's have nailed it. I couldn,t have spoke from experience like they did anyway. The majority of my carry is shoulder because of the other gear I have to have. If your interested in shoulder carry I may have some ideas. I've just seen something new in the store that I'm tempted to try. I claims to handle medium and large arms with comfort and reliability. Even says it handles a Desert Eagle with ease. That is the one I plan to try if I get this holster. Sorry I don't remember the brand or style, but I must admit it's looks didn't impress me. But that won't keep me from trying it. Congrat's on the new addition. Wish I had one, but budget is set for this yr. Like you though I've got a friend who has one and it is a great asset. Let us know what you get. Thunbs%20Up
