I was just wondering if anyone has played around with managed recoil rounds?  It is not for me but one of my friends is short and a whimp... Don't tell my boss I said she was a whimp...  She shoots a .270 Winchester and went deer hunting for the first time last season.  I just thought I could help her out with the cost a little by reloading some for her.  Let me know what I would need to look into for reloading something for her...

You can just load with the min or a little higher charges and also you can use 100/110 grain bullets but load bullet weights accordingly. that's all reduced loads are!

+1  With a 130 gr bullet at the lowest powder levels listed in the reloading books, it should be very manageable and shouldn't kick too much.  Even more so with a 100 or 110 gr.

+2 and should be every bit effective out to 200 yds.

Thanx for all the great advise...  Now all I need is some of her brass if she has any, plus some funding from her to develop the round best for her rifle...

Hodgdon lists 'Youth Loads' with H4895 powder in a variety of cartridges, including the 270.  They say H4895 works effectively with loads as light as 60% of max.  That would mean you could load the 270 down to about 27 gr. with a 130 gr. bullet.
