What kind of "dot" does it use?

I'm not sure. Assume it is similar to what is on a typical Aimpoint, although the automatic adjustment based on ambient light is interesting and perhaps a negative.
Have to admit that I haven't ever seen a red dot that looks quite like this. Swapping a guy a barrel for it. More of a novelty than anything else.

Thanks Mark.
Probably be a wall hanger or trade fodder, but was getting tired of kicking that barrel.

It's interesting, Mike. Even for an Aimpoint floozy like me.

I have one, much more beat-up looking than yours.
The dot looks like a typical dot on any other red dot sight. It comes with two mounting systems, one of which simply clamps to a flat top Picatinny rail. It also has a very clever arrangement for solidly clamping to the barrel and the front of the carry handle of an M-16A1, which positions the sight just right for practical use. But unfortuantely, CONTRARY to what I'd read, when using the A1 barrel mount on my Colt SP1, I could NOT use the iron sights through the optic at all. The viewing window on the Falcon sits just a little too high for that. In the 1990s, the Elbit Falcon MK II was one of the best red dots you could get for use on an AR-15 carbine. Jim Crews highly recommended it in his 1997 book, "Some Of The Answer, Urban Carbine". Today, it would still work fine, but there are better options much more readily available. |

Definitely more of a novelty. Size is interesting but technology definitely has advanced since the 90s. Can't see me replacing my Aimpoint with it
Might be an interesting piece to put a Israeli period specific weapon. |
