Good Evening or Good Day,
I'm an armchair hunter.
90% of the time I'm looking from my 13th floor apartment over the bay and nearby roads and parks (yes, 13 is my lucky number).
10% of the time I'm on an airplane or a road.
I don't use a tripod
I just lean back n watch,
often at night.

Targets ~ Distance :
  • Boats n boaters ~ 150-2000 m
  • Heli's n Airplanes - 150-2000+ m
    • low flying (need to nail'em in flight, then zoom in) or
    • high flying over the City or high in the sky
  • Car details (Model & Plate) and Pedestrian details (mainly cute chicks) nearby ~ 35-400m
  • Mountain terrain ~ rough estimate 15km-20km (I can see the rocks with my cheap Oberwerk 20x80 binos)
After 8yrs of putting up with the 20x80's Hammermy hormones (at 55yo) crave for more power  ....

The Oberwerk 20x80's once fell from the window sill (18inch high) and broke in half (now glued back successfully, I think)

So, would I go wrong to get an Optolyth 15-45x80 Mini BGA spotter ? (the 20x80's are piece'a cake to hold).
I would order them directly from Germany to save the cross-border fees that are inside the cost if I order them from USA to Canada, and to ensure they are made as much as possible 'Made in Germany'.
If u were in my spot, what would u get that would do the job? I'd rather pay a bit more to ensure lack of hastle.
Thanks in advance for ur considerations.

p.s. I recommend to drink hot green tea often. Hot beverages soothe the stomach, thus are relaxing and rebalance the hormones if aggravated.

In your situation, I would probably find another hobby.

Barring that, get a tripod.  That is the single most effective measure to seeing more detail.

Get a window mount, a tripod and the name and phone number of a really good lawyer!
Past 30x you will need a better scope, it will be more expensive and need the window or tripod mount.
IMHO the Swaro is the best 80mm, you have to go to the Kowa 88mm to beat it and maybe the 95mm Swaro (at $4200).
Optolyth is a good scope, Customs will catch you though and make you pay duties and penalties plus there will not be a warranty and you will have to pay the lawyer.
Look for a good used scope...Swaro, Nikon, Leica, Zeiss, Vortex, Zen Ray, et al put their demo's up for sale at some good prices after large sportinggoods shows.
Zeiss 85mm can sometimes be found at a good price.
SWFA sample list is a good place to look.
Good luck.
