I was mounting my scope with mk4 rings and the leupold inch/lbs wrench. Was I not supposed to use the wrench on the torx screws for the ring caps? I managed to shred one of the torx heads, but im not worried about that. Im worried did I possibly crush the scope tube? Funny thing is, the wrench never "broke" or exceeded 65 inch/lbs. What happened was one of the points on the bit broke and and caused about a 1/4 revolution high speed turn. I can back the screws out. But im most worried about the scope. -CM

Ring cap screws are 15 inch pounds as you probably figured out by now.  Only the 1/2 inch nut should be 65 inch pounds.

If you do not see any physical damage to the scope you most likely did no harm.  If your scope has a side focus parallax make sure it still turns with out binding and make sure it is still adjusting the parallax by turning it while looking through the scope.

At the rear ring half an inch forward from the eyepiece theres 2 gray/white lines one on each side each about 1 cm. long. Paralax adjustment doesnt appear affected but I can feel a recess where the ring cap and base met on both sides. Reccomendations? Remount it and shoot and see? or pitch it? Want to see pictures?

P.S. Its a 6.5-20x50mm MC Zeiss Conquest. I found a picture of something similar cut in halves. I dont see

anything in the area that looks delicate. Might turn out to be a learning experiance and not a loss.

Sorry for the long delay.  Been out and the post got burried in my e-mail.

What did you end up doing?  Is the scope okay?
