Hi, i am new to this forum and had a question. I currently have a savage 110 equiped with a IOR 4-14x50 and am very happy but i cant quite get in close enough to see the target comfortably and was thinking of moving up to something with more power, i was looking at the 6-24x50. Does anyone have any suggestions what power i should go to and should i get a variable power or get a fixed power because it seems i am always shootihng at 14x anyways. I would like to stay with IOR because this is the first scope i have ever owned and i am pretty happy with it but any suggestions are highly appreciated.

hi, that is what i went after was 4x14 but dealer did't have one in stock at the time. the only reason i got the 6x24 is a good deal. got scope and badger base w/20+ moa for 1200.00. unless you plane on engageing targets at 600 or better i would stay with what you have.if you need to identify targets us a spotting scope at 20x40x60. to me the lower power that you have, it has brighter glass than the a man told me, WHAT EVER IT TAKE TO MAKES YOU FILL GOOD ABOUT THE SHOT TO GET ONE SHOT ONE KILL. NO MATTER MAN NOR BEAST.

For tactical use the 4.5-14 range is the best choice. Not always the case with a target shooter.  Leupold has Competition fixed power as high as 35x, 40x and 45x scopes so if all you do is shoot paper and want extreme magnification there are some other choices. The 20x Super Sniper is a posibility that wont put you in the poor house at $299.
