I have an IOR tactical scope (2.5-10x 42) on one of my M1A Sage EBR builds. I find the glass in IOR scopes exceptional for the price. I have had good luck so far (knock on wood) with this IOR on this 14lbs+ rifle. It has survived at least 600rds down range so far without an issue. I know if it breaks IOR scopes AIN"T quick or easy to get repaired.

Sage Ebr

I have a new build using a JAE G2 stock and it too will probably be around 14 lbs. I was thinking of putting another IOR, in 3.5-18x42, on this one. http://swfa.com/IOR-3-18x42-Tactical-35mm-Rifle-Scope-P8937.aspx

My question is, if I'm willing to spend $1600 - 1700 bucks is there a better option(s) I should be considering? I'll be shooting this rifle out to 1000 yds. I'm not interested in a 50mm obj or higher magnification and I would prefer glass at least equal to IOR. So that leaves something around 2x on the low side and no more than 20x on the high side and no more than a 44mm obj. Oh yeah, I like a MP-8 style reticle, a FFP scope in not an absolute requirement, and anything with a battery is a deal breaker.

For those who might ask what will this rifle be used for... Lets just say I would like it to be grunt proof.

Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44 BRH @ $1498.98 on SWFA sight.Mine is some of the best glass on the planet,my Zeiss FL is a tad better on long range but it also cost a grand more.

When I say a tad I mean a small tad.Good luck, some tough choices in that price range, for a few hundred more you can get one of the Alpha's to ride that new tube or keep checking SWFA's sample list.

Just last week they sold a Zeiss FL for $1900!

Forgot to mention, welcome to the OT!

Is there target / tactical turrets available on the Swaro as an option? How much adjustment is there in that 1 inch tube... enough to make it out to 1000yds without using a canted base? Man that baby is almost half the weight of the IOR that would be nice.

This stock deserves a decent piece of glass

As far as target/tactical turrets go the only thing Swaro has is what they call a ballistic turret. On their site they have a video of how it works, but basicaly it's a dedication of one bullet one load that can be factored using their computer work up.

As far as elevation goes there are a total of 360 clicks. You might get out to a grand but it's more than likely a 20degree rail will be needed.

Sorry I can't be of any more help as I only shoot out to 400yds so I use a zero degree rail & I have plenty of elevation.I'm sure SWFA or Swaro can help you with the right answer.

The one thing to remember is if you do go to the ballistic turret you are forced to give up the BDC reticle for a plex reticle[kind of like a #8]If you are willing to go this route you will never be let down with the Swaro glass.

If you are going the bench route I'd save a little more & go for the Zeiss.S&B or Premier.IOR makes very good glass, the problem is if you want to step up it really does cost alot more &n it's  for only a few more minutes after dark.

Forgot to mention windage is approx.200 clicks.

Nice stocks you seem to enjoy quality consider US Optics SN3 for your scope or if you can spend the money Heinsoldt.  IOR has very good glass but the US Optics is ultra dependable  essentially a tank.
