I really like this scope. I bought one about a year ago and I would like to buy another one. Bright  clear  glass. Side to side with my Leu 10x M3 it compares very favorably. I like the mid size cap covered knobs and it has good positive clicks that you can feel and hear. The IOR 6x42 is a winner. The MP8 reticle is a great reticle.

UIF and Ilya,

I really appreciate your comments in this forum.

They have forced me to make a critical review of my often-conflicting requirements and finally decide on what I REALLY needed.

I'll be buying this particular scope from SWFA next month for mounting on a 308 Remington 700 5R Milspec .

Ilya

This is the nicest scope I own at this time.  Beautiful clear bright glass.  Easy to see targets at even 1000 yds.  Not that I shoot that far.

The MP-8 reticle is the best reticle I have seen.  That includes mildots, etc.  I like plex reticles, but if someone wants a mildot type, the MP-8 is great.

The windage and elevation knobs are very easy to read and very crisp and audible.  I am comparing this to scopes I own or have owned.  That is: SS, Sightron II, VX II and Burris FF II.

The guys at the gun shop were very impressed as they don't normally see any IORs.

Here is a pic.

Just one thing the tube is blued steel so wipe it down with a silicone cloth.

Thanks for sharing your picture of your installation with us.

I've just ordered from SWFA the Badger Ordnance Picatinny rail (with 20 moa offset) for my 308 Remington 700 5R Milspec.

Unfortunately, the information at SWFA's data page on the IOR 6x42 doesn't give mounting dimensions, etc.

Since it appears that my installation will be identical to yours, could you please advise as to what you specifically used regarding:

1. Mounting rings

2. Lens covers

I intend to order these components from SWFA at the same time as I order the scope (next month).

Thank you.

Mike

I discarded the sizing for the covers.  But I asked SWFA for the sizes for the Butler Creek covers and they gave me the correct sizing.  Just call them or email them.

The rings are Burris XTR low rings.  They are perfect, as you can see.  I don't know about the offset mount as I believe there are many MOAs available for adjustment in the scope.  You may want to check the specs.
