After much deliberation I believe this scope will be ideal for my 6.5x55. Though it's not a low power; the FOV is up with most 2-5 and 3x variable scopes at 4x. The only question I have is, what will the absence of SF mean at high power ? I would also like to hear from any one who has used this scope. ILya your favourable comments about IOR scopes was the clincher.

Laurie,

I assume you're referring to the hunting model, is this correct?  I have the Tactical version of this same scope, which does have SF.  I love it -- optics are exceptional.  It's an excellent piece of equipment!

RifleDude

Congratulations also on your Optics Master title !

Yes, I am looking at the hunting version of the IOR 4-14x50. The glass is the same in the hunting and the tactical ? The 2.5-10 was also considered ,but the extra 4x power will be a benefit at the longer ranges.

Supposedly, yes.  The two scopes have several differences, namely turrets, reticles, SF, length, and weight, but they have the same glass and coatings.  The Tactical version has slightly more FOV.  I haven't seen the hunting scope, but I would imagine optical quality is the same or very similar, which is to say very good.

I dont know what the hunting model sells for, but there have been some 3-18 Tac's and 4-14 tac's forsale on the Hide and they where priced right. I know for sure there is one 3-18 for under a 900 and you might be able to talk them down a tad....
