Has anyone had a chance to play with the illuminated reticle version of the IOR 3-18x42?  I was looking at the SWFA sales page and it states that the non-illuminated version is a first focal plain reticle, but it does not say whether the illuminated version is first focal plain or not.  Can anyone tell me whether the illuminated version has the first focal plain reticle?

Welcome to The OT, Paul.

There's been some really strong reviews here and other forums concerning that scope.

You may want to try the search feature in the upper RH corner of the web page.

Yes, both versions of that scope are FFP.

Hi cheaptrick,

Thanks for the info regarding the IOR scope and the friendly welcome..  I tried search feature before posting, but I couldn't find any specifics as to whether all versions were FFP.  Maybe I didn't search hard enough.

cheers,  Paul

That's all I could find, but there may be more out there. I haven't read many bad things ever said about that model.

Sniper's Hide has some scuttlebutt on them too I'm sure.

Sniper's Paradise is, or was a haven for IORites and may be able to help you more.

The illuminated versioin is SFP.

The non-illuminated version is FFP.  The picture there is incorrect.  It shows the illuminated scope.  Also, if memeory serves me right, the FFP version of this scope will have a different knob design.

No problem cheaptrick and thanks for the correction ILya.  I think I'm going to go with the FFP version.
This scope is going on a Savage 10FCP .308 that I just ordered.  My plan is to use a Farrell one-piece base.
Do you think his scope has enough clicks to use a flat base or should I go with the 20MOA version?
Given that I live in Arizona and we have plenty of wide open spaces , I'd like to try working up to 1000 yard informal target shooting.

cheers,  Paul
