Hello SWFA Members,

I'm DougMH and I'm completely new to long range shooting with a scope.  I spent 20 years in the USMC and thought I would always be an iron sights guy... but 63 year old eyes changed all that.  That, and trying to be stable in the off-hand and sitting positions.  I'll keep trying in that with my Rock River Arms Match AR NM , but I'm also going scope.

I have the luxury of having the base at Quantico, VA to shoot at so I'm going F-Class.

I just bought a Savage 10FP LE, and with help from this forum will mount a Konus M30 8.5-32 52mm scope on it.  I have a Choate Ultimate Sniper Stock due in Thursday... and I hope to be shooting very soon.

It's nice to be among friends.

Welcome

Sounds like it's going to be a nice rig. Post some pics of it when you get it all buttoned up.

I shot the AR in a Palma match last Sunday.  My first three shots from the 1,000 were 9, 10, X... then all heck broke loose with the heat and my eyes.  I could feel my pulse in my cheek and the rear sight aperature looked like a baking potato rather than a basketball like it did on the first three shots.  No sense going into details, but it was all downhill from there.

The new Savage is .308.

.308  Thunbs Up

Several of our regulars do shoot distance events and for fun. I'm sure they will chime in here in a bit. I don't think I could hit a Bulldozer from 1000 yards away. Smile
