Hi there,
New member  Howdy checking in with a quick question.
Is there any information on the spec of the new Nikon Encore EER 2-8x28 ?
I am looking for a scout scope for my VEPR 308 and this one looks interesting.
I couldn't find any info on NikonUSA, I would like to know more about:
a) eye relief
b) FOV
c) BDC reticle spec
Better yet, anyone who owns it and have used it ?
Thanks in advanced.
Cheers

I just checked the store website, and they don't have the specs listed yet, other than price, for that model in two different finishes.
  Hope you get an answer.
The VEPR is  kind of neat, ugly firearm.  I'd like to try one out sometime.

..............................I have one that is less than a year old that I use a scout scope; the 2.5-8x28 Monarch EER UCC. It`s not the new Encore though! Assuming that the new Encore`s specs are the same, here is the info on mine....................Eye relief on the 2.5x lists from 12" to 30"....On 8x, it lists as 10.5".................FOV @ 100 yards on the 8x is 4' while the 2.5x is at about 17'.................This particular Nikon does sit occasionally  as a scout scope on my 300 WSM Ruger Frontier compact. Despite its 16.5" barrel, it can well exceed a 30-06 and in doing so, it is an excellent long range shooter! That`s why the Nikon variable scout!...............The secret to obtain the best FOV in all magnifications, is with the fast focus eye piece!...To better explain this particular Nikon scope and the fast focus eye piece, go to,,,,,,,, shootingtimes.com....From the home page click on "optics"...Then scroll down and click on page 2 or 3................Look for the article entitled "Dual Purpose Optics from Nikon" by Dick Metcalf................I`m sure you`ll find that article very interesting!!..........Aside from the new reticle, if the new Encores specs are like mine, then this particualr Nikon will make a good choice as a scout scope for your 308!...........Happy reading!!!

Correction!..........The FOV is about 13' set on 2.5x, not around 17'.............Remember though! While the FOV seems narrow for this scope and it is; regardless, you can still aim with both eyes open on the lower power giving you quick target acquisition. On the 2.5x with both eyes open, your FOV and vision is much greater than just looking through the scope with one eye open while the other eye is closed!..........Though using the higher powers, the longer range precision shots will require the normal squinting of your non aiming eye!.............

Big Squeeze,
Thanks for the info. I did checked swfa site and other but couldn't find any spec, I presume the encore will be similar in optics as in Monarch EER but with a BDC reticle.
Even the reticle looks different in SWFA site than another site.

.............................Make sure that you read that Shooting Times article! If you do get this scope, you`ll need to know why the fast focus eye piece is critical. The fast focus eye piece adjusts for proper FOV regardless of your power setting!
