I have a pair of these I bought in 1999 and was wondering what I would gain optically by getting the Ultravids 7x42, I know they are lighter.

Thanks

Ultravids focus much closer. If you use you binoculars for hunting, you don't gain anything really important. In the 8x and 10x models you would get a brighter image with less color fringing, but in the 7x42 models differences in brightness and color correction between Ultravid and Trinovid are nearly impossible to notice.

Be happy, you already have a 7x42 as good as it gets.

Thanks,
I did not think there would be too much difference but just needed clarification on whether there was any amazing break through technology in glass since 1999
The only complaint I have with these is their weight!
