this year the prices of Remington [I think], farrel, and most brands of ammo have increased. I don't know why but I find it hard to except any rise in prices, even though I know it is supposed to happen.

Lake City is shipping everything they make to the military and none of it into reserve which is where surplus ammo is released from. The government is using secondary suppliers like Remington and Winchester. These companies have to direct resources towards this capacity and all ammo commercial ammo supplies will be affected. I buy ammo from ammoman and this has been going on for at least a year. Surplus 5.56, 7.62 and 9mm being the biggest changes for us civilian purchasers. Prices have gone up quarterly as supply has gone down.

A couple of years ago China and India started buying up all sorts of raw materials.  There are starting to get thier factorys going and pumping out all sorts of consumer  goods for thier own domestic markets and ours too.  Most metal prices have doubled, be it lead to gold.  That also means that they too need oil to run everything and are in direct compitition with US, europe, Japan and everybody else.  China as a market is 4 times ours.  India is twice our size.  They both have an educated work force, much lower wages, and less restrictions on everything from building and enviromential to capital.

We on the other hand... Have been paying China interst on the money it loans us, to buy "Pink Flamingos" and other crap at some MART.  That we charge up our credit cards with, only to take out what equity we build in our houses and use it to pay off the card so we can repeat the cycle, rather than have homes that are paid for...

My buddy the stock broker won a contest and got to go to china last year.  The best dinner for two in Being is 12 bucks. He and his wife went twice Tailor made chasmere suit 120 dollars (he got three and the wife go two). Here a made to measure wool suit is around 1200 and up.

The other problem is that dollar is getting weaker.  Track stock ticker EFA vs the S&P...

YMMV
