I'm looking for a pair of binoculars that feature individual eye adjustments, 7x or 8x, and under 40mm objective. Price constraints under $300.oo.  What's available.

OddDuck,

I'm an FNG here too.  Given the money you want to spend, individual eye adjustments, 7x to 8x and under a 40mm objective, I'd say you're looking at Steiner Military Marine 8X30's ($194.99 from SWFA), Steiner Police 8X30's ($159.99 from SWFA), Steiner Predator 8X30's ($229.99 from SWFA) or you could go to www.samplelist.com and pick up a set of Steiner Night Hunter 8X30's for $299.99.  I really don't know very much about Steiners, but from everything I've heard, I'd be on the Sample List picking up those Night Hunters (given your parameters).

Take a look at IOR Valdada binoculars. In my opinion they are optically superior to Steiner, but heavier and tougher.  8x30 and 7x40 are at about your price range.  I have a 7x40 model and I am extremely happy with them.

I wrestled with the same choices this summer and ended up with 7x40mm IOR Valdada binocs.
I'm pleased with the 7x40mm configuration for eastern groundhogs and most of my deer hunting. I
am very pleased with the quality of the IORs. I'd buy another pair of IORs in a heartbeat.

We do not stock IOR yet but can special order them for you.  Steiner offers many different models and configurations and some super deals can be had on the SampleList.com site on Steiner.
