Hello, I have Hawke Sidewinder 30 6 Half-24x56 Mil-Dot and Hawke 30 Tactical 6.5-20x42.Glasses are very similar, at dusk they have similar performance, although Tac has a smaller lens. I have noticed defocusing on the edge of the visual field in both scopes, is it caused by imperfect (cheap) lens?

Do you have similar experience with these or other scopes?

I imagine it is from the cheaper glass

Yes your lens is imperfect but all lenses are even in the best optical systems are imperfect.  All optical systems are a compromise of conflicting requirements.  It is just that the best are much better optimized and their market price reflects it.

Scope a design is a study in compromise.  With riflescopes, it is not uncommon to sacrifice some performance at the edge for better center field performance.  Besides, all scopes are built to a particular pricepoint.  That is why there are different pricepoints.

I normally use lenspen for cleaning glass, but I'd like to ask if I could somehow damage the anti-reflection layer with compressed air?

I know it's a strange question, isn´t it? But for me it is important to know it.
