What is the advantage of illuminated reticle in the Nikon Monarch UCC?  Low light conditon improvement by keeping it visible against the target?

How is it on long range shooting in high magnification?    How is fine cross hair in high magnification, as in a 6-20x44 like the Nikon Monarch UCC ?

crosshairs aren't fine.

Illuminated reticle is good if you ahve good eyes and hunt in near darkness.

For most people, it isn't worth the extra $$

Wondering if at long ranges  like 500, 600 yds  if "fine crosshairs", or Nikoplex, or Mil-Dot, or BDC are preferred by most or if any are usually avoided.        So for normal day shooting illum. reticle is a waste?

It depends on what type of reticle. Personally I don't use the illumination to see the cross hairs as the background light lessens. Just like an aimpoint or an Eotech, the red illumination, makes using really fine reticles "faster" in the daylight on higher powers. As the intensity of backround light increases (say noon)  a fine cross hair gets lost on brick walls etc. As a stark contrast imagine using a 6.5x20 on a door kicker AR. on 6.5 with a fine cross hair, now add illumination and you get the idea.
