Hello all.
Im in the look out for a scope for my cz varmint .223.
It must have an illuminated reticle as most of the work this rifle gets is at night for foxes at a range betweeen 100-300 yds.
I have a budget of around 600usd.
I currently have a bushnell elite 4200 6-24x40 on it and am looking for something of similar quality.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Dwight

Here's a few
I use a 3.5-10x50 at night and set it at 7/8x. You need all the light you can get and the higher powered zoom scopes aren't much use cranked up.
I use a gun mounted Surefire 9P.

Hi Dwight
Sounds like you have a nice rifle for taking foxes. I own a CZ myself & it is a great shooter.
To be honest, there aren't many illuminated reticles that work well at night. The problem is that, even at the lowest "brightness" setting, most illuminated reticles wash out the scope image at night usage. Hopefully there will be some other responses from members (Technika, among others) who have found a scope with a usuable illum. reticle for night hunting in your budget. Unfortunately I don't have any personal experience with such a scope in this budget.
Have you looked at some non-illum. fixed power scopes with a large front objective? I particular, I have heard very good things about the Meopta Meostar 7x56mm. It will run from $450-500USD and is supposedly excellent for night hunting. Also, you might consider an IOR 10x56mm (30mm tube). It runs just under $650 so perhaps you could stretch your budget a few extra $$?
Best of luck & let us know what you decide to buy.

VERY true.
But, on a budget the Nikon lit reticle are usable.
Not a Euro, but I did fool around with my Nikon lit Mil Dot at night and I think it will be serviceable, maybe not ideal.

My Leupold has the standard duplex and works fine with the 9P.

It's a powerful light made by Surefire. They make a weapons mount for it and mine came with a shock resisting head.
