the m1a is springfield,NM stainless barrel,  with their cheapo scope mt, which is ok, but not for serious work, have had several m1a over the years. before good factory products we used to scrounge parts from many sources, and finding a good forged receiver was more than 1/2 the problem. Then there was the problem of bedding the action, Today there are many sources and add ons. While a tricked out m1a may shoot groups from a fixed shooting platform as good as an ar10t all around its not near the gun.

Yea but the M1A or the AR-10 would beat the sh*t out of the POS M16/M4 we have... wish either of those were our service weapon instead of the garbage they give us.

mostly it's the 223 round not the gun.
