My "if I could only have one" for most everything would be the Hensoldt 6-24x72.  Hunting would be 3-12x56Meopta Meostar…the more I play with that scope, the more I like it.  The March 1-8 may be what I end up with on the Grendel…Since it is short barreled, I really don't need extreme range and 1-8 is intriguing to me.  All your scope choices "fit" and I have no arguments against any of them other than personal preferences.  If I didn't already have the Leatherwood 14CMR for my AR, I would definitely go with the SS1-6 and may end up giving my wife the Leatherwood and getting the 1-6 for me.  She likes the CMR and will never need "more scope".  Aimpoint micro is my choice too for that "type"…

Dang it, I can't find anything to argue with you about… I'm losing my "touch"...

These selections are all about personal preferences, so finding something to argue about is doable, but somewhat counter productive.

I haven't used the March (and don't do long range from a bench) so my long ranger would  be a Kahles 6-24.

On the Premier, I heartily agree.

I haven't used the March 1-8, but have the USO 1.8-10, that'd be my all-around on an auto.

As for big game, I had a Leica, had an issue with it, then mounted a Premier 3-15 and carried on. No regrets.

Low range, mine would be either the SS1-4 (I don't have a 1-6) or an ACOG with red dot backup.

On the red dot, I too am a dedicated micro guy, they are awesome.

hmm

Long range (to 1K): Kahles K312II
Big game: haven't settled but I think it may be the Leica 3-12x50
Hogs with AR 6.8: S&B 1.5-6
AR15 556 CQB/3gun (point blank to 500): Meopta ZD 1-4
Red dot: T1 2MOA

If it was strictly a question of capabilities I'd also take the Premier LT (probably with illum.), having run one for a while. But I've found the SS 3-15 to be an great substitute and used the extra money for other things I really wanted. I'd rather have two SS 3-15s (one as a backup in case of severe damage) than any single high-priced scope.

I know a lot of guys would never just run regular rings on a gas gun. But Seekins low rings on a Mega Arms MATEN upper with a Magpul CTR stock gave me perfect cheek weld using an SS 3-9. So if I had to choose one scope and only one rifle it would be a 16" barreled MATEN in that configuration with either the SS 3-15 or the Premier. Some of those scopes, like the 1-6 or 1-8 would be good in certain scenarios too.

one of our staff guys just built up a 16" MATEN and is running the USO 1-8
current LE, former mil and a hunter/3 gunner
runs the APD markrsmanship team

He's also got an OBR but the MATEN built up in a lightweight config for everything from 3gun heavy to hunting hogs and deer with a can.
