Well according to the weather this is an appropriate topic. So what is the best of the best that you guys have tried this summer.  For me it's Eddys Baby Ruth flavor.  OH MY This is GOOD stuff.

Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla

The little creamery just celebrated their 100th anniversary.  They used to only sell in Texas but have branched out a little now.  If you can't get it where you are they will ship it to you for $44.50 a gallon.

To me, NOTHING store bought even remotely compares to good, old fashioned, homemade ice cream of most any flavor -- when using the right recipe, complete with heavy cream, sugar, eggs, Eagle sweetened condensed milk (basically, all that stuff that's bad for you), and fresh ingredients.  I remember turning the handle on an old ice cream maker as a kid on a hot summer day, and I counted down the minutes until I could dig into this Manna from Heaven!

Blue Bell, Haagen Daaz (sp?), and some others are pretty $#!@ good, but they still don't compare to homemade for me.
