The reticles in my scope got knocked lose this last weekend antelope hunting and I need a new scope.

My old one was a Simmons Deerfield 3-9x40, and I'm looking to upgrade my new scope to about a 4-12 as I have had the opportunity to quite a few longer range shots.

I was wondering what would be a good scope to mount on top of a .270?  It would be nice to keep it under $500 but if there's a major upgrade for a little more, I'd be willing to spend a bit more.

After asking around a bit, it's been suggested to look at a Burris, Bushnell, or a Luepold, but I'm still not sure what is the best for the money.

Bushnell
Conquest
IOR

I'd start there, stay in the 3-9 range.

These will be better deals and better deals and better glass than Leupold.

The best scope for your $ is a bushnell elite 4200 3x9x40...for about $250-300 bucks.  A zeiss conquest 3x9x40 can be had for about $450-$500 if you want to go for the top end of your budget.  I'm sure somebody more computer savy will give you a link...all I'm good for is opinionsBig%20Smile

I think you will be very happy buying a $500 scope....no matter who makes it.... It will be about 5000% better than that Simmons..... Bandito     I wish I had $500 to plunk down on a scope!!!   Stare

You may also consider  a Sightron Big sky with a hunters reticle or the Nikon Monarch with BDC.  Both of the scopes offer bullet drop compensation.  Speaking from experience I do own a Sightron Big sky and the glass is great as well as the other features tracking, knobs etc.  I also own the Nikon monarh BDC in 2.5-10x42 ($399).  The BDC reticle works on my 30-06.  I zeroed my rifle at 100 yds at 10x and then went to the 200 yd target.  My seven shot group was about 1.5 inches high and 2.5 inches right of center tartet.  The glass is clear and crisp and gives you 4 inches of eye relief.  Using the BDC reticle allows you to shoot up to 500 yds with your 270.

This is a great value. A 3-9x40 Conquest would also be excellent. Of course the 4200 is always a great value too. Along with the Nikon Team Primos from swfa for $199 if you like ballistic reticles.

Thanks guys, the help was great.
I just picked up a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 with the BDC reticle.  I look forward to deer season, and any other chance I get to try it out.
