Just wondering, all other things being as equal as possible, would the end user notice a difference in optical quality between roof prism binoculars and Porro prism binoculars?

In most cases the answer is "no".  Both types can be found in all quality levels.

It is easier and cheaper to design and construct a high-performing porro prism.  It used to be that the best roofs couldn't compete with the best porros.  That is no longer the case.  The performance gap no longer exists, in practical terms.

Short answer is probably not.  Some will se a bit more pronounced 3-D efect from the wider spaced objectives, but there probably is not much there for most.

The selection of porros is pretty slim nowadays as compared to roofs, so there is a much greater selection of roofs.

Vintage stuff is a different story.

Do you have any particular porro in mind?

No particular binocular in mind, I was just wondering.  Just ordered my first decent binocular, the Zen Ray ZRS HD in 8x42.  I'm excited to try them out.  Plus, it should make life at work a little easier too.

That binocular has as good an image as any porro I have seen at or around that price point.  Better than most.

There maybe one exception though.
A Porro by it's prism design gives the user a greater stereoscopic view as the objectives are usually spaced apart far wider than the users eyes as in a roof system.
