While I am pretty set in any future optics choices, (pretty fond of Zeiss and Leica) I have been watching "Best of the West" lately, and they seem to have their own optics company now. While I'm not considering buying one, I was just curious. Anybody look through one yet? They seem to get enough for them that they should have pretty good glass, but that doesn't mean they do.

I found the 1/3 MOA adjustment to be odd.

I can't quite figure out why these guys put their product out there before they are available?  Seems like putting the cart before the horse.

Anyone own one, used one, know anything first-hand?  Their claims are astronomical - and they are backordered and wanting $500 to reserve your privilege of owning one.

One way to raise operating capital. There are to many good optics on the market to gamble that much on a newbie. If it sounds to good to be true there is usually a reason.

Well .... if you can afford to possibly have a very expensive paper weight ... I think I'd wait until they're sold and tested . I've seen and heard that type of hype before .... and there's boxes of some of them in many basements .

The man in charge there says he will put them up against any high end scope out there. S&B, Zeiss, USO, Swaro, NF, all of them. Think he's delusional. Only thing I got is they are from Japan, but could not verify it for sure. It was said by a guy in the other forum claiming to be the scopes creator.

Any time a new guy makes such claim with absolutely nothing to back it up, I question everything that man says.

The Super Sniper was a resounding success because they put the scope out there and let people talk it up.  This guy is making a market buzz by telling how great the scope is and asking people to put down $500 for the privilege to buy.

He ain't getting my  money!  Not till he shuts up and puts up.

This thread had me intrigued.  Sounds like folks think pretty much the same way you do coolaid.  They're even challenging him on his own forum...

I put it in the why bother category. I dont want one I have too many other proven quality optics that I do want. Aimpoints, Trijicons, Bushnell 4200s, Leupolds, Nightforces, Ior's so why bother.  Huskemaw probably means Sucker in Chinese.

i have had some experience with this scope, so i'll comment.

year or so ago, im watching outdoor, when best of the west comes on. all it was is a 30 minute commercial for their scope, and rifles, neither of which they actually build, gunwerks rifles, and best of the west are two seperate companies, they are just affiliated through the show.

so i got one of the scopes, just to screw with, i just wanted to prove they arent what he makes them out to be.

scope came, and first thing i noticed was the 1/3MOA adjustments, which on a box test proved its actually .1mrad adjustments. not bad, but guess they just had to label it in MOA because the idiots that watch there show wouldnt know wtf a mrad is. not to mention 1/3MOA would be .333 at 95.5Y or IPHY would be at 100Y, and .1mrad is .36" at 100. so thats the first retarded thing i noticed. the knobs feel OK, you can feel the clicks pretty good, and they're pretty audible, but guess what.... same knobs as a mueller scope... hmm??

onto the glass. they are making this thing out to have glass on the scale of S&B, NF, and so forth... NOWHERE near. i would compare it more to the glass of a luepy VX1, bushnell banner, nikon buckmaster, bushnell FF2, and so forth. the glass is absolutely nothing to brag about. anybody that knows two sh*ts would call them out on this, but most of there customer base are people that have no clue.

then the reticle, they make it out to be the greatest thing since toilet paper, its just a reticle with some windage marks, leupold can put them into any of their reticles in the custom shop, aswell as a BDC knob, and you'd have a MUCH better scope. and for less $$.

so i contacted aaron, about his claims, and let him know his scope did not live up to what he made it out to, and i went into great length, and i got a email, and he was jsut dumbfounded. just repeated the BS about the true BC, ect, sounded like a damn broken record, same stuff he says on the show. he really has absolutely NO CLUE about this stuff. just trying to rip people off, and make a easy buck.

the scope is chinese made and CANNOT cost any more than about $200 to produce. and they're selling them for what, $1300 now or something? that NF territory almost, or you can get a leupy, and either way you get a MUCH better scope, and have a REAL reticle to measure distance, hold wind, hold over, ect.

and to top it off, the guy doesnt know the difference between in lbs, and ft lbs.

IMO to buy one of his scopes you have to be a bigger fool than he.

and MAJOR LOL at him telling the guy on his forum that the huskemaw is a better scope than his leupold LR.

Quote I will put this scope against any other manufacture for optical excellence and rugged repeatable adjustments. In fact, last week at the SHOT Show, we had many reps from the big optics companies examine our product--everyone was impressed with the quality of the product, and surprised at out low MSRP.

i found this amusing.

i would guess the other "big optics companies" just felt the need to come over and check it out to get a laugh

also where i PROVED to him how a S&B, NF, USO was much better scopes in every aspect than his scope, all he could come up with was...

"well, they're tactical military scopes"

Thanks kindly for this write-up. It's all just as I expected. I just wouldn't say because I've had no experience with them.

Yup, me too. I wanted to call him out, but didn't want to waste my money on his product just to do so.

unfortunately, i bought one and have spent nearly 3 months trying to find a load that will work in my rifle without 15" patterns.....have put it on 2 scopes with the same results; convinced that there is something wrong with it and i am trying to return it....and their MOA is WEIRD!

Is it verifiably Chinese made?  It should have a sticker saying where it was made.

I've had some fun with the idiots on that thread.

Reviewed the 3x12x42 model. Basic Nikon scope with a very fine reticle. Serious hunters need not apply unless low light conditions doesn't mean anything to you. The whole gimmick is this; Take it to the range, zero at 200 yards, shoot your rifle at a mid range distance (475 recommended) and count your elevation clicks, then 70% of your farthest distance you'd like a turret made for and count the clicks. Send range data of load, BC, elevation, you know the drill, and they build you a turret so you can throw away your range card. That simple. Leupold has been doing this for years. hint hint. Call Leupold custom shop and they can build you a custom BDC turret for the Leupold you already own.
