ive been noticing a lot more hunters lately have been using red dot sights with 3x magnifiers for real dense wooded areas. maybe they always have been and i just didnt notice, but i do notice now.

it would be used on predators (everytime i write that i think of the movie predator and that im hunting them) but the thing is that im kinda unsure how i wanna go for my next set up.

any of you who hunt with that kinda set up do you like it? does your 2 moa dot become a 6moa dot if you magnify it with a 3x mag? is it one of those things where once you add a magnifier you might as well just use a scope bc all scope rules apply now? i.e.- eye relief, parallax, etc

What kind of rifle are you putting this on?  Any particular red dot you are looking at?

I have one of these and like it a lot.

Right now, this is one I'd consider.

I really like the Hawke model because to me 1.5-6x is about perfect for hunting in dense brush. "which is about all I get to hunt in now"

no, the dot size does not increase with the use of a magnifier

I use a Trijicon compact ACOG in fixed 3x red crosshair and that works good I also have 2moa Aimpoint Comp M4s the Trijicon is the better choice.  SWFA has a new 1-4x Super Sniper scope with illuminated reticle that would work nicely for you and Trijicon has a 1-4x variable accupoint that would also serve you well.
