i am looking at the 2.5x10x42 ior on sample list for 699.99, i just sold my bushnell 4200 1.25x4, so i am used to a 4a dot sfp, not sure if i should go with tactical model or hunting model,  this is for an ar 15, will one hold more value than the other, i am thinking for all the further i can shoot an ar 15 i should be able to sight it in and then leave all the knobs alone.  is the illumination really as bad as some people say on here, i have sold 3 optics in the last year, so i would like to get it right this time{eotech, burris fastfire ii and bushnell elite 4200}

If you don't see a need for turret adjustment on the AR or anything you may put the scope on in the future then I vote the hunting model for cost sake. But if your budget allows and there is a possibility of ever doing any distance shooting the tactical will hold value as good as any and cover any variety of applications. The illumination can be an issue but, I've heard that some battery adjustment can be made (lower volt) to better control brightness. If you do a search here for the subject I'm sure you will find the thread on it. The IOR is a solid choice in glass, function, durability and value. Especially with what you can find on the sample list. Good Luck and good shootin. Welcome to the OT.

ive looked at the charts for 223 if ur only going to be shooting up to 300 yards ur good but if ur like me and have places that stretch up to 900 yards ur gonna wat the ior rifle scope ior makes awsome scopes very clear very durable and the turrets are great for in feild ajustments and the 2.5x10 is great for short or long range i have a 4x16 on my 243 and i keep it on 10 power its good for 50 yards and out.

thanks for the input, could you give me your opinion on the mp8 and 4a dot, i had a 4a dot ,very simple and i was able to see very well at night,do i really need an mp8 reticle on a ar 15, i read everyone really likes the mp8. i've looked at it, looks good, then i think when would i really use that reticle as its designed, i would assume i would look at my crosshairs at anything 300 to 400 yards out. i know these are simple questions, but buying new optics and then selling them at a loss sucks and i have done that three times buying hyped up products.

I like the MP8 but I like a simple rectile design and preferr to use turret adjustment for distance shootin. You will have to go with what you preferr. The MP8 is very popular and would probably help it maintain value. Now that I think about it, I will prpbably get the MP8 on the next IOR I buy. Even if I continue to use turret adj.

you're right, should just get the best model ior in that class, so instead of the used one on sample list i should probably just suck up the additional cost and buy the new one that has corrected illumination problems and with ior's new lens coating.
