This was the annual Banquet for the hunter who donated a deer this last hunting season. We had over 100 deer donated this year and were able to help a lot of people who truly needed it. We work with west star ministry in handing out the meat that was donated. Here is a few photos of the banquet. We had a great turn out of over 300 people this year. That is a growth of 80+ people from last year. I want to give A THANKS for all who donated items. We were really blessed this year as everyone who walked in the door was gave a T-shirt and a few other items. We were also giving 100 gift bags that had small hunting, fishing items that we were able to give the youth and smaller. We also were giving a Ruger 10/22, and shot gun and a Howa 1500 300winmag to give away on a drawings. It was a great day of helping and serving. Thanks again

We do have Hunters for the hungry. I'll have to check to see if there are any drop locations in your area. We have one about 15mi. from where I hunt the most. Its about 25mi. from home. I'm hopeing NC Wildlife will budget for more locations this comming season. NC screwed it up this past yr. though. It started out in 2007 with two bonus doe tags, as many as you want after you use your two hunter choice tags out of the standard issue. This yr. they decided to charge 10.00 for every set of the two bonus tags. With the economy like it is they all but killed its effectiveness. The first two yrs combined I donated 50+ deer to the program. This past yr. I only took 8. I hope they see the light and put the people who depend on the meat ahead of their greed. Not to mention it was finnaly an effective way of getting local deer herds better in balance.
I don't know if NC has a banquet or not. I'll have to check on that too.

This is program is not state or fed funded. It is by donations only. 90 percent of the time it is out of our pockets but thats fine. Maybe one of you can start one in your area. Its alot of work but worth it and well needed.
