Pretty good movie, not a bad book.  Reminiscent of Andre Norton's style of storytelling.  Movie has a sad undertone sort of in the genre of "Logan's Run" and "Running Man".  Very thought provoking... worth the money and time.

Yup, I agree. I took my daughters to see it last weekend.

I finished the trilogy yesterday.  If done like the first there are two more good movies coming from this "package".  I read a review that said the second book was just a "place holder", but disagree entirely.  I thought it bound the trilogy together very well.  Not sure how you could justify the third without what occurs in the second.
Overall, a really good, thought provoking set of concepts with way too much direct relationship to "today"...

I read them a few years back, I really enjoyed reading them also.  It really made me feel for the characters.

I thought they did an excellent job with the movie.  Left out a few parts I thought should have been in it, but all in all they did a great job.
