This is about 5 miles from us and we are down wind.  They have evacuated all the buildings in the immediate vicinity and the EPA is on site to determine how toxic the smoke is.

I would say "take a deep breath, kick back and relax too the smoke clears" but that dosen't seem like the right thing to do.. Stay safe and get out if they say get out.

It is getting pretty bad here, eyes burning, lungs burning and some are feeling nauseous.

We're closing down so everyone get out of the path of the smoke.

Guess this means you won't get my package and you won't send me yours, but that is a minor point.
The BIG point is GET UP WIND AND UP HILL and stay safe.

We had a fire at a chemical plant about 15-20 years ago. Every piece of equipment that was at that fire had to be hauled to a special landfill and burried. From fire engines to clothes, police cars, uniforms, leather gear, guns, everything. I know at least one officer died prematurely from cancer that was at that scene, and they suspect it was a reslt of that fire.

If you want to read about something that's appalling concerning our troops. Google "Balad burn pit". I was stationed there (Balad) for 6 months and was holed up about a half mile from that damn thing. I've read multiple reports about men and women developing cancer among other things that they believe (and the military denies) are linked to that burn pit. They burnt EVERYTHING there.

Chemicals burning are nothing to mess around with. I'd be driving far away from that place.

Like the New York Fire Fighters and Rescue workers, oh no the colored gas and smoke is not bad for you.  Loco

Most things burning rubber, plastic, coatings, paint are horrible for you.

+1 on ILya's Comment.

Chris, one of the jobs I do at the mill is HazMat Technician. If the chemicals they make there end in " ine, ide, or ate " , take yourself and your workers to a reputable Dr and get checked out. What seems minor now can give you many problems in the future. There's some bad stuff out there.\
 Be safe, keep us posted.......

Yup, was another at Talil (now Ali base i believe) and TQ as well. Many Leukemia cases popping up. I know i keep those tour records safe and sound if anything respitory develops i'm heading to the local VA.

I just pray that people are all getting the care they deserve. I donate time and money all the time to veteran causes because if there is a group of people that deserve an extra effort from me in this country, it's those that have served overseas, especially those who have given their lives.

Stay safe.  That is a bigger fire than we had.  Only burned a truck and loaded trailer to the ground.  That pic looks much much worse.
