Okay, I think I understand the parallax thing, and the way one focuses the scope cross hairs.  However, how, without adjusting the optics, say the way one does with a binocular, does the scope stay in focus?  Not everyones eyes are the same, and as the power is cranked up down, I would expect the focus to change.  How does that work?

Focus is dependent on the distance at which something is viewed; not so much magnification, except to the extent magnification amplifies optical imperfections and environmental conditions like mirage.

The binoculars focus the same ways as a binocular, not any real differance.

The reason why you not are adjusting your scope focus all the time is because you'r eye is refocusing and that is happening very fast.

This is also very much an age thing, the older the user are the slower his eyes works and he is also less able to get sharp focus on short distances.

I am very rarely using binoculars with centerfocus, and prefers ocular adjusted military type binoculars, that gives me the advantage of always having the binocular focused for my purpose, and never any need for adjusting it.

Espesially usefull when used in low light where there is not enough light to get it properly focused.

Regards Technika
