Anyone use the Hornady Steel Match ammo? I hear both good and bad about them. Apparently their steel cases have a very slick coating on them and they are better quality than most of the other steel cases out there. But I am not sure if they would be hard on my ARs or my semi auto hand guns.

I guess it all depends on how badly you need ammo.  It sure would not be my first pick but If I had nothing else I might try it.  Im rather shy of it though, my rifles are expensive so the only thing I shoot steel case in is 7.62x39.  I think the steel case stuff would be great in a really cheap rifle, I guess I need to buy a really cheap rifle.

It is an old thread, but I accidentally found it while searching for something else.

I have switched to the 75gr Steel Match from Hornady almost exclusively for my 5.56 AR.

I do not think steel cases harm the rifle in any way and this is a very accurate plinking round.

i shot ooodels of steel cased ammo through ar-15s

aside from some russian brands being a little bit on the light side and a bit dirty  i haven't had any problems at all.

i really like hornady steel match 75gr for the ar-15s, very accurate, match bullets and real ball powder.

it ain't going to beat a good, well worked up hand load. but for factory ammo it is very nice stuff.
