Why does H4831 show CUP pressure instead of PSI?  Anyone know, and what is the difference between the two.

From what I gather "CUP" or copper crusher method is a measurement of pressure to crush copper.  Where as "PSI" is an electrical reading from a chamber mounted  transducer which generates an electrical charge which is then converted to "PSI".  the actual pressures are identical, but the numbers are different. Simular to converting yards to meters, the length is the same just a different number value. To add to the the confusion it very from cartridge to cartridge.

You can find a more detailed explanation in the lee reloading manual, 2nd addition starting on page 117.

It seems odd to me that they would list some with PSI and others with CUP.  Why not list everything the same.  When I was first looking I was just looking at the number and was wondering why the heck 4831 created so much less pressure.

It states in the manual that under most circumstances, high pressure cartridges have a higher PSI maximum than CUP number, though the actual pressure is the same,  the numbers are not interchangable.  "Information overload".  All I know is to respect maximum pressures listed, whether CUP or PSI.
